Women peacekeepers are essential:
- Women, like men, are part of all societies, and should be represented, like men, at all levels of political decision-making process.
- They are role models for women and men in conflict zones.
- They respond to specific needs of women, including female ex-combatants.
- They provide a sense of security for women and men.
In addition, according to the UN,
they help reduce conflict and confrontation.
